Up next: DOT presents study results to 5 community boards — Tues June 2, 6:30pm
NYC DOT is hosting a public Zoom presentation on Tuesday, June 2 at 6:30pm to share the results of their Grand Army Plaza conceptual study. The session is co-hosted by Brooklyn Community Boards 6, 7, 8, 9, and 14 — the five districts that ring the plaza.

Show up and speak up
This is the public-review step that decides whether the conceptual study moves forward into near-term funding. Community Board sentiment matters — DOT and the mayor’s office read the room here. If you support a unified pedestrian plaza, please come and say so. A few sentences in the Q&A from a neighbor goes a long way.

What’s being presented
“DOT was awarded a grant to study a new design for Grand Army Plaza. This study is now undergoing a streamlined public review so it can be considered for near term funding. Please note that this is a conceptual study, not an actual design for the plaza. Once the study is approved and funding is awarded, the project will go through a traditional capital design process and public review.”
— Deborah Kirschner, VP Communications, Prospect Park Alliance (email to CB committee members, May 2026)
In other words: June 2 is about locking in the concept — the unified pedestrian plaza connecting the Arch to Prospect Park — so that detailed capital design can begin. The materials presented will be the same April 2026 design boards DOT showed at the workshops, plus survey results.
